Whose naam?
A young Indian woman lying in bed late at night, her face lit by her phone
11:48 pm · “one more minute”

The problem

The phone gets the first minute of the morning and the last one at night. Bhagwan gets what’s left.

Nobody decided this. It happened one reel at a time. Japoji doesn’t take your phone away. It puts the naam back where it used to be: first.

How it works

Three steps. Twenty seconds. Every time.

  1. 01 · The pause

You open Instagram. It doesn’t open.

Pick the apps that eat your mornings: reels, shorts, the feed. When you reach for one, Japoji is there first. WhatsApp and your bank stay open.

  2. 02 · The naam

    Eleven beads, one naam each.

Ram, Mahadev, Radhe, Hanuman ji, Maa Durga or Ganpati Bappa. Each bead is a gentle tap under your thumb, with a soft bell at the sumeru. It’s meant to slow you down.

  3. 03 · The diya

The app opens, and a diya is lit.

You get fifteen minutes, then the naam comes first again. Every day you keep it, another diya lights on the steps of your mandir.

Streaks, gently

Seven diyas. One week. One mandir.

Every day you take the naam before the feed, a diya lights on the steps of your village mandir. Miss a day and it waits for you. No red screens, no guilt.

You have a right to your actions, never to their fruits. So don’t act for the fruit, and don’t give up acting either.
